- Wrap Up
Hair, soap residue, mouthwash, and other care chemicals may build an almost impenetrable block in bathroom sinks. But, before you hire a plumber, there are a few more options to unclog the drain that are both simple and economical.
Many of these drain unclogging solutions apply to other drains.
The procedures listed below have been tried and proven, and none of them use abrasive or harmful chemicals:
Baking Soda and Vinegar
It is a method for unclogging a drain in bathroom sinks. In a measuring cup, combine 1/3 cup baking soda and 1/3 cup vinegar.
This combination will fizz instantly and should be dumped down the drain as quickly as possible. The fizzing motion is what makes the hair and filth come off so quickly. Allow it to sit for 1 hour before flushing this out with warm water.
Baking Soda and Salt
Baking soda with salt is yet another good combo. Combine 1/2 cup of each and dump it into the drain.
Wait 30 minutes before pouring boiling water down the drain as well. All three components combined provide a robust solution that will clear the most common bathroom sink clogs.
Boiling water
Boiling water works remarkably well with some bathroom blockages, particularly those caused by soap scum. When there is a sluggish drain and not much water mixed in the sink, boiling water is quite efficient. First, bring a saucepan or kettle of boiling water. Then, pour the water down the drain and repeat this step 3 or 4 times. If you are dealing with a minor clog, the outcome should be pretty swift.
Wet and Dry Vacuum
When dealing with tough clogs, a dry commercial vacuum is an essential tool. Set your vacuum to its maximum level. Usually, the tremendous suction is enough to remove whatever is obstructing the pipes.
Wire Hanger
We propose this method the last since it is the most time-consuming. You can avoid this project if you can unclog your drain using one of the methods listed above. If not, a wire hanger works to clear most tenacious blockages.
